Something is wrong with the way we talk; there is a lack of softness and openness. Or perhaps it is not about the words, but about who takes them, who holds on to them, and who fills the space.
In Feminine Frequencies, theatre-maker Yannick Noomen confronts his own tendency to take up space.
In co-production with Jam Factory Art Center in Ukraine and Echobox Radio in Amsterdam, Nineties builds a radio studio on stage. As the show’s host, Yannick tunes into a different frequency and makes space for another sound. In a country where men are at the front and women carry the weight of everyday life, he seeks out voices that are given little airtime: feminine thinkers, activists, artists, queer soldiers and women keeping the country going. Together with his musical sidekick, Berlin-based composer and producer Philipp Johann Thimm (Apparat), he explores the airwaves.
